Communicating stories might be the most crucial element to being a global citizen scholar. Recording your experiences, no matter how big or small, through online forums, orally, writing, pictures, music, dance or anything in between is the first step to sharing them. Find what method works best for you, create it, and share it.
For me, I can share my ballet journey through pictures, videos, and writing down the memories I have from my 7 years of professional training. After a struggle with a persistent injury which ultimately was a large factor that caused me to stop pursuing a career in ballet, I found other passions through educating and hoop dancing and was able to strengthen those. I hope that by sharing these stories, I could inspire another person who is struggling with the reality of leaving a huge part of their soul behind. I hope my story will help others realize that just because you can’t continue your passion in the same way you have been your whole life, there are many other ways to stay connected to it while flourishing in another similar passion you never knew you had inside you. Letting go of one passion that carries a lot of weight allows you to pick up others you may have otherwise overlooked.
As a future educator, I hope to help inspire the kiddos in my classroom and teachers in my school every day we are in session. By passing along experiences I have had over the course of my life time, I hope to inspire the more youthful Americans to accomplish whatever it is that they are interested in.
